January Glossy Box

I can't believe January is over already, I mean it feels like just yesterday that it was Christmas time! Crazyness

So I received my Glossy Box this past week and thought I would share with you what was inside in case you guys are still umming and ahhing about subscribing to one of these beauty box services.

I know there was a lot of people complaining on Facebook about their box taking a long time to arrive, seeing as it is supposed to come mid-month and did not get here until this week but I didn't really mind too much. Being in Perth it tends to take a while for packages to come and since I knew it was on it's way it didn't bother me too much that it arrived towards the end of the month. Plus they are still a relatively new company here so I expect some kinks with the system.

This was my second Glossy Box and as I was really impressed with December's box (read my post here) I was excited to see what they would include this month. I have to say I wasn't as impressed as December but still think it's a great selection of products.

Enough rambling from me, here is what it included...

Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser 30mL ($5.40/250mL)

Sheer Cover Nourishing Moisturiser 30mL ($29.95/60mL)

Sheer Cover Lipgloss ($19.95/2.5g)

Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant 20g ($39.95/125g)

Mirenesse Tight Liner Hydra Gel Eye Liner  ($29.95/2g)

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

The stand-out product from this box is definitely the full-size Mirenesse Hydro Gel Eye Liner. Although it's definitely more of a liquid liner in felt tip form. I received mine in a gorgeous dark navy blue colour called Saphire Blue. It's so dark that it looks black but when it catches the light you can definitely tell its a navy blue colour.

I am also eager to try the Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant. It says you can use it as either a daily exfoliator or keep it on longer for a deep cleanse. I've never heard of this brand before but its natural and Australian made so what's not to like.

Also in the box were two products from the brand Sheer Cover, a full size lipgloss in Pink Praline and a facial moisturiser with SPF15. I'm not all that impressed with the lip gloss, mostly because I don't like glosses in pot form as I don't like to get my fingers dirty but the moisturiser is quite nice. It's a very lightweight formula which reminds me a lot of a Shiseido moisturiser I use to use for years.

The Nivea moisturiser wasn't all that exciting but is a handy travel size so it will get used.

Also included was a $25 gift voucher for clothing store The Iconic - which I have already used to purchase these awesome leggings. There was also a $5 off discount code to use for Glossy Box Man, which I probably won't be using as Blake's not one for metrossexualism lol

Ooo and last but not least there was some Ozzie Day temporary tattoos, which sadly I didn't get to use as our Oz day was quite low key considering the 41 degree weather!

Have you subscribed to a beauty box yet?? What did you get this month?

POBM FOTD featuring MAC's Vegas Volt Lippie

Meeting 17 other beauty bloggers is a pretty daunting thing when you are trying to decide what makeup you want to wear. I decided I wanted to keep my eyes quite natural but still made up and go with a bright orangey-red lip using MAC's lippie in Vegas Volt.

Here's how it turned out :) *Excuse the sunnies mark! haha*

I'd been eyeing this particular MAC lippie for quite some time but could never justify the price, especially when I have so many lipsticks already. Luckily my mum knew I wanted it and bought it for me for Christmas :) It's an amplified cream formula which I find really moisturising and very wearable despite it's brightness.

On my cheeks I am wearing another new favourite MAC's blush in Peaches. It's a gorgeous orange toned blush which pairs perfectly with Vegas Volt.

What's your favourite MAC lipstick??

Hope you all had an awesome weekend! I'm currently settling down for the Jurassic Park marathon! Haha

The $100 FOTD Challenge!!

Recently while I was catching up on reading one of my favourite blogs, Makeup and Macaroons, I saw that Lilit had come up with a really cool challenge of trying to create a FOTD for under $100AUD.

As you all probably know by now (because of my incessant ranting of the fact) Australian make-up is super expensive when compared with other countries, so $100 for a full face would be pushing it. I thought this was such a fun challenge that I had to give it a go and see how I would do.

The products I used were ones I already had in my collection but perhaps haven't gotten as much love as their higher end counterparts.

So without further ado here is the face I created :)

Here is a close up picture of my eyes :)

So how much is my face worth?? Well let's break it down shall we...

Foundation: Covergirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup in 01 Ivory $19.95 from Priceline
Concealer: Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Perfecting Concealer in Ivory $15.45 from Priceline
Powder: Savvy by DB Translucent Pressed Powder $4.95 from Pricline
Bronzer: Savvy by DB Jumbo Bronzer in Terracotta $9.95 from Priceline
Blush: 10 Pan Blush Palette $3 from Ebay
Eyebrows: Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil $8.50 from Priceline
Eyeshadow Base: Soft White Eye Kohl Pencil by BYS $3.95 from Gloss

For my eyes I used the Modernista Palette by Model's Prefer which I bought for $4 from Pricline (such a bargain!). I also used the lip colours in this palette to achieve my peachy pink pout and the white shimmery eyeshadow as a cheek highlight.

Eyeliner: Savvy by DB Liquid Eyeliner in Black/Brown $3 from Priceline
Mascara: Maybelline the Colossal Volume Express in Glam Black $19.25 from Priceline

So my whole face comes to a total of....*drum roll please* $92.00!!!

Wow even using cheapie products its still almost $100 for a full face of makeup! On the other hand I do have $8 change.....time for another trip to Priceline!! :D

The Products I used

Thanks to Lilit for creating this challenge I had a lot of fun picking out my products and it's definitely inspired me to use some of my cheaper makeup items that I perhaps don't get enough love.

Can you create a face for less than $100AUD??? If you do this challenge please link it below, I would love to read more of these posts!!

POBM: Perth's Online Beauty Meet-up

Last Sunday I was invited to attend the first ever Perth online beauty bloggers meet-up. It was organised (amazingly well) by Annette from Wellness WA and held at quite possibly the most beautiful spa I have ever seen, Djurra Salon & Spa in Fremantle.

I must say when I first received the invitation I was pretty excited! I had seen all the numerous blog posts and tweets about the ABBW over east and subsequent events and meet-ups those girls have had and been so very jealous that I couldn't go.

When we arrived at the spa we were all treated to a Aveda Blue Oil mini massage, which is something given to all customers upon entry. It was lovely and the oil left me with a tingling sensation on my neck and shoulders which felt really nice. This was followed by a cup of Aveda's Peppermint and Liquorice tea. Since I have just started getting into drinking peppermint tea so I really loved this and the hint of liquorice really complements and sweetens the peppermint.

Anita, the owner of Djurra, gave us a little background in why she teamed up with Aveda who are an all-natural beauty brand and her philosophy about the spa before giving us a quick tour (not easy to do with 18 eager girls!). The building is amazing, the walls (which are the definitely the focus) are a mixture of exposed brick and grey wall and the treatment rooms were exquisite.

After all the introductions we chatted while Annette was busy laying out the food for the event, generously provided by The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle. I have to admit I have never tried "raw food" before (unless you count carrots and dip :P) but it was surprisingly good. There was a raw pizza as well as two raw desserts; a macaroon and a mint cacao swirl (which tasted like a huge after dinner mint - so yummy). To wash all the raw food down Emma and Tom's Juices provided juice which was so so yummy and apparently equivalent to 3 pieces of fruit which is why we all felt so full afterwards.

All the while this is happening the lovely ladies at Djurra were performing foot soaks on the girls. I unfortunately didn't get to have one but everyone was saying how amazing they were and I don't doubt it based on the mini massages.

Once we were fed and bathed ;) we were given some tips on how to be healthy from the inside out from Naturopath Adele Plumridge. She spoke about the importance of Zinc in our diets to maintain healthy skin and how we need to make sure we are getting enough Vitamin D to boost our immune system. Then out came the shot glasses! Yep you heard me....although the shots weren't what I was hoping for! We each got given a shot of zinc to take in order to determine if our bodies were zinc deficient. We had to swirl it around in our mouthes for ten seconds and depending on what we could taste determined our zinc levels. Mine were ok but could be improved.

Once our minds were full we moved on to something I was very excited about, our product swap! We were asked to bring three or more items either new or barely used to swap. In return we got to pick three new products to take home with us. I scored my first Illamasqua blush from the swap! Its a very bright berry pink colour called Tweak which I love. I also scored the new Dove foaming makeup remover which Suzanne raves about so I am excited to try that. The third item I picked up was a Bourjois Duo Effect Blush which comes with a matte colour and a shimmery colour. Since there were extra products I also scored a fourth item which was the L'Oreal Volume Lift Tecniart Volumising Mousse.

Products on our swap table :)

My Goodies from the Beauty Swap

Annette spoiled us with two very heavy gift bags at the end of the day filled to the brim with different products, all provided by very generous sponsors which I will list at the end of this (very long) post. I'll be reviewing some of the products once I get a chance to test them out a bit more so look out for that. Anita generously gifted us all with an Aveda bag filled with some Aveda products which was very nice of her.

The MASSIVE goodie bags!

There were also two door prizes at the end of the day, one of which I was really lucky to win! I never win anything so this was pretty cool. As a prize I received a really cute and really big bag from Endota Spa as well as four of their organic products which smell amazing!

What was inside the Endota Bag!!

It was a fantastic day and the best bit was getting to put faces to the twitter handles and blog names of all the girls which was great. A big thanks once again to Annette for organising everything and to Anita and the ladies from Djurra for supplying the venue and the mini treatments. Also thanks to Adele for explaining the importance of being healthy on the inside and out.

Merry Xmas/Happy New Year with a touch of GlossyBox

Hey lovelies,

Sorry I have been absent once again but you know how the holiday season can get. We have had friends and family staying with us for the past three weeks so I haven't had much time to blog. But I'm slowly getting back into the routine of everyday life which will mean more posts.

So around the beginning of December I subscribed to my first of the Australian beauty box services. I'm sure your all familiar with these boxes by now but just in case there are some of you that aren't they are a monthly subscription that come with around 5 samples ranging from haircare, makeup, skincare and perfume.

I subscribed to GlossyBox which is $14.95 a month and contains 5 luxury sized samples. It comes in a really pretty pink box with a note telling you about each product and how much the full size product costs.

I got my first box mid december and was really impressed with what was inside.

The first thing I was super excited about was the 2 samples of the new Calvin Klein perfume, Forbidden Euphoria. CK One is my everyday perfume and I love the CK Summer perfume they come out with each summer so I knew I would love this one and I did. I have already used up both samples! haha

The next item was a 30mL sample of John Frieda's Frizz-Ease. I thought this was a good sized sample and have already used it a couple of times. I don't tend to have overly frizzy hair but this is a nice finishing product to keep my hair in place for longer.

I thought it was a little weird to have a sunscreen in the box but I really do need to use it more often so it's handy to have this on my makeup bench to remind me.

The next item is actually a full sized product. It is a lip pencil by the brand Gorgeous Cosmetics in the colour Entourage. I'd never heard of the brand before so it was nice to be introduced to a new makeup brand. The colour is a nudey brown colour which is perfect as I know it will be used. I haven't used it yet but from swatching it the pencil is really creamy.

The last was another full-sized product by the haircare brand Bed Head. I thought this was a really generous addition to the box as you get a tonne of product and it retails for $23.95AUD. It is a texturiser which is supposed to add volume and hold your hair in place. I haven't tried this yet but it smells great and I have heard good things about the brand.

They also included a candy cane! How cute haha

I know some of you are probably sick of these posts but I thought I would write it anyway for those of you who are interested. I love seeing what other people get in their boxes.

What did you guys do for new years/christmas?? Are you subscribed to any of these beauty boxes?

Hannah xoxo
