September Lust Have It!

Well the boxes didn't last long! We are back to the little make up bags. I don't know how I feel about that although I do really love the colour of this months bag. Not sure why they would go back to the little bags, possibly some backlash from customers who weren't happy with last months disposable box.

Here's what it contained;

1. Davroe Ultimatum Non Aerosol Hairspray 50mL sample ($19.95 for 200mL)

This is an Australian made non aerosol hairspray which contains pure plant extracts and says it has a hold factor of 10. I've never used a non aerosol hairspray before and don't have the highest expectations for this product on my hair as it doesn't hold well with any hair products because its so damn thin. I'll give it a go though, it smells alright for a hair spray and would be good for travellers.

2. Say It With Scent Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion 30mL sample ($26.80 for 200mL)

Another lotion! haha there seems to be at least one in every bag. Luckily (or unlucky really) I have very dry skin so I get a lot of use out of them. This one is nice as it is on the thinner side and absorbs quickly which makes it great for a hand cream. It's also Australian made which is a plus!

3. Dermalogica PreCleanse 15mL sample ($65.50 for 150mL)

I was so excited when I saw the two Dermalogica products as it is my favourite skin care brand. This is a plant based cleansing oil which removes excess sebum (oil), waterproof makeup and sunscreen from your skin leaving it ready for your cleanser to do its job properly.

4. Dermalogica Active Toner 30mL sample ($51.00 for 250mL)

I have used this toner before and really love it. It's really refreshing and doesn't leave your skin feeling tight like a lot of other toners do. It adds an extra layer of moisture (great for those of us with dry skin) and has skin-repairing Aloe as well as lavender and arnica to soothe the skin.

5. Mirenesse "Protect Me" Tinted Daily Face & Neck Mineral Balm - sample ($69.00 for 18g)

This is a pretty tiny sample of what I think is a tinted moisturiser. The card says that its an anti-aging balm infused with high performance mineral sunscreens, although it only has an SPF of 15 so not sure how effective it would be for a sun protection on its own. When swatched it doesn't seem to have much a tint to it at all but it does make your skin feel super smooth (possibly good to use as a primer).

It also came with a card to receive a free 45 minute Dermalogica facial treatment valued at $90.00. The only catch is you have to spend over $50 or more on products, which is very doable for me as I love their products, but if you didn't then it would be worthless.

Value = $4.99 + $4.02 + $6.55 + $6.12 + $1.91* = $23.59 (not including the voucher)

*I wasn't sure how much the Mirenesse sample was, Blake said about half a gram so I went with that.

Overall I think this was a good month, mainly for the two Dermalogica samples. I'm very interested to see how the non aerosol hair spray works and I'm always grateful for new makeup samples. However, looking at the value it doesn't really hold up against the past months.

Did you like the bag this month? Was yours any different?

EOTN/OOTN: Party time!!

Last night Blake and I met a couple of friends for a few drinks at a new bar at Perth Casino, The Merrywell. The bar is super super nice. It's full of timber panels and cool light fixtures and the food is INCREDIBLE although a little pricey.

I thought I'd share with you what eye look I went for. This has fast become my go to eye look for nights out as it is a little softer than a black smokey eye and its really easy to do.

To get this eye look I applied Nars eyeshadow base all over the eye as a primer. I then used a synthetic concealer brush and applied Essence's cream eyeshadow in Glammy Goes To.. all over the lid focusing it in the inner corner. Next using a MAC 217 I applied the dark colour in Nars Cordura to the outer corner of the eye blending it into the crease. To blend that out I used the lighter brown and focussed it in the crease and a little bit onto the lid. I then took both the colours under the eye.

Liquid liner was next. I used Face of Australia's HD Liquid eyeliner pen to apply a thin line on the upper lash line and slightly flicked it out in the corners. Teddy eye kohl was applied the the lower lash line and waterline. Last step was to curl my lashes and add a few coats of L'Oreal Voluminous mascara.

Here are the products I used (minus the mascara oops)

Brushes: Sigma Synthetic Concealer brush, Sigma Pencil brush & MAC 217.
NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
Essence Cream Eyeshadow 02 Glammy Goes To...
NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Cordura
Face of Australia High Definition Liquid Eyeliner
MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara

And here is my outfit of the night!!

Galaxy Shirt
Leather Pants
Black Ankle Boots
Gold Collar Necklace
Gold Aztec Style Cuff

What sort of look do you go for on a night out?? Any of my Perth ladies been to the Merrywell??

Blake and My New Zealand Holiday!

Blake had been bugging me for months trying to get me to agree to go on a snowboarding trip with his friends to New Zealand. I was hesitant at first as I have never snowboarded before but finally agreed once I had quit my job as I figured why not take a holiday before I start the unpleasant task of trying to find a new job.

I have been to NZ before a couple of times but it was Blake's first time so I decided we needed a few days, before we met up with everyone, to explore the South Island.

Our trip started out in Christchurch where we picked up a pretty awesome camper van, it was fully equipped with a shower and toilet as well as cooking facilities and a double bed.

The plan was to drive across the South Island through Arthur's Pass to the West Coast and then head down and meet Blake's friends in Queenstown where we would stay in a house for the weekend. We would then head to Wanaka for three nights before getting back in the camper and driving up the east coast to Christchurch for our return flight.

Here are some photos of our trip!

Just landed in Christchurch and waiting to be picked up!

On the road...how beautiful is this country!

Me and our lovely van!
Our first camping spot in Arthur's Pass National Park,
so gorgeous but FREEZING!!

A lookout along the way with an amazing view.

Kea birds, they are so confident - they tried to get
in our van and eat our food haha

Beautiful view in Fox Glacier

An amazing lake, with the stillest water ever.
View from the beach! haha
Exploring the glacier, this was pretty amazing!

Having a taste of the glacier water - by far the
best water we have drunk.

Another lookout along the way.

Lake Wanaka - incredible place

View from the top of the mountain where the one of the
snow fields are.

All geared up and ready to learn!

Look at me I'm doing it!!

Annnddd now I'm on my butt haha

Having a beer at the World Bar in Queenstown.

The view on the way out of Queenstown one morning,
the clouds were so heavy the mountains just peaked through.

IT'S SNOWING!! First time I have ever seen it snow.

Snow Park in Wanaka - check out the dude on the jump!

Breakfast in Wanaka - Blake was very impressed!

The highlights of the trip were definitely driving around the countryside and all the fantastic views. Arthur's Pass was stunning to drive through and Fox Glacier was incredible. Learning to snowboard was pretty cool although quite painful! I learnt you need to be pretty damn fit to be able to spend a day let alone a few days up the mountain.

I think the biggest highlight for Blake and I though was Wanaka. It is such a gorgeous town set in the most picturesque location with really friendly locals. We definitely fell in love with the town and even discussed buying a holiday house there one day!

It was definitely a bummer having to leave and head back to reality but we have our next trip to look forward to now - Japan in March next year which I'm sure is going to be incredible!

Have you guys been to NZ? Where's your favourite spot?

NOTD: OPI's Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey!

Just a quick post to show you my nails of the moment. As I am in the process of applying for jobs and having interviews I wanted to keep my nails quite neat and neutral so I decided on OPI's Cosmo-not Tonight Honey!

This polish is a gorgeous champagne colour with a golden sheen. I applied two coats as well as a base coat and a top coat, however I probably could have done with three coats as it still looks a touch sheer.

OPI Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey!
I love OPI's polish names although I don't
really get this one lol
China Glaze base coat, 2 coats of polish and
China Glaze top coat.

What's currently on your nails???

How about a little magic?? A Review

In a rush to do your eye makeup? Or do you find it all a bit too hard? Why not use a little magic!

A little while ago the lovely folks at Glow & Glamour sent me a few products to test out, included in the pack were a few Magic Eyes. I had seen these around in the past but passed them off as a gimmicky product that wouldn't really work.

Ever the curious beauty blogger I decided to give these a try and was pleasantly surprised with the results. They are super easy to apply and actually come off very pigmented. They do require slight blending around the edges but apart from that your eyeshadow application is done in one step!

Magic Eyes from Glow & Glamour

I was sent three colour combinations, a neutral purple grey combo, a bright orange and pale green combo and a bright blue combo. The one I was most interested in trying first was the more neutral toned one. Here is a few pictures showing how I applied it.

1. Start with a bare eye. If you want the colours to last a bit longer and appear more vibrant I would definitely recommend using an eye primer. I used the Nars eye primer before beginning.

2. Open the box and pull out the foam pad, being careful not to mess up the colours.

Magic Eyes #1 Pink Bloom
3. Place it on your eye lid and press down.

4. Pull off the pad being careful not to move it around. It should look something like this. As you can see it does look a little funny but the next step will fix that.

5. Take a big fluffy blending blush and very lightly blend the outer edges and the inner corner.

6. Add your finishing touches and you have a magic eye!

Here are the results of the other two colour combinations;

Magic Eyes #11 Summer Meadows

When I saw this colour combination I was a bit skeptical but I really love it on the eyes, it looks gorgeous.

Magic Eyes #13 Blue Lagoon

This one reminds me of Mimi from the Drew Carey show, perfect for dress up parties or if you are more adventurous!

The only problem I noticed with these is that they can have a lot of fallout so I would recommend doing your base after your eyes if you use these.

Magic Eyes are available to purchase online at Glow & Glamour. They retail for $3.80USD each and are available in nine different colour combinations.

Have you tried a product like this? What did you think??
